No mission field is easy. And in a nation that was closed for 250 years to western influences, it can seem daunting. But that is one of the reasons why Japan is the ideal starting point to jumpstart your mission call!
One of the safest countries in the world, Japan offers an easy entry into rich cultural heritage and understanding how to walk out mission calls in a different culture. Our mission school is based in Sano in rural Japan, only 1.5 hours from Tokyo.
Famous for ramen and outlet shopping, Sano is surrounded by mountains and rice fields. The city also offers boutique cafes, famed mineral springs and of course 7-Elevens. Get the best of both urban and rural living in Sano, Japan.

FAQs
What happens after I submit my application?
Once you submit your application, it will be sent to Catch The Fire Asia Sphere Leaders Michael and Rachel Sawka, who will review and pray over your application. The aim is to let you know whether you have been accepted into the school within four weeks of submitting your application.
What happens if I am accepted?
After you receive confirmation of your acceptance, the next step is to pay a 10% deposit. The deposit can be paid by: -Credit card (additional processing fee applies) -Bank transfer Payment information will be provided in a follow-up email.
When is the remaining balance due?
The remaining balance is due by May 31, 2027. Payment can be made by credit card or bank transfer.
What should I bring for accommodation?
You will need to bring your own: Sleeping bag or sheets Personal toiletries Any other personal items you need for three weeks A pillow and two bath towels will be provided.

What is included in the Mission School?
Mission School is a three-week missionary training program in Japan. Your registration includes: -21 nights of accommodation As part of your cultural immersion, you will stay in simple accommodation at the church, sleeping on camp beds in dorm-style rooms. -Pillow and bath towels A pillow and two bath towels will be provided. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag or sheets. Bedding can be washed during your stay. -Meals Daily breakfast, plus 15 lunches and 15 dinners. Meals are shared with fellow students, providing opportunities to connect and build relationships with one another. -Return airport transfers Airport transfers to and from the airport are included. -Transportation during Mission School Shared transportation in cars will be provided as required throughout the program. -Three-week training curriculum A robust three-week curriculum featuring dynamic teaching from experienced missionaries. -Local outreach opportunities Opportunities to participate in local outreach events at Catch The Fire Sano.
What is not included?
The following expenses are not included in the Mission School fee: -Lunches and dinners on Saturdays and Sundays -Personal snacks and drinks -Personal spending and local experiences -Airfare -Visa fees -Vaccinations -Travel insurance We recommend budgeting for additional personal expenses according to your own needs.
Where should I fly into?
You can fly into either Narita International Airport or Haneda Airport. Please plan to arrive on Sunday, July 11, 2027. If you arrive on Saturday, July 10, you will need to arrange and pay for your own accommodation for that night.
When should I book my flights?
Please do not book your flights until you have received confirmation from the Mission School team that you have been accepted. Once your acceptance has been confirmed, you can make your flight arrangements.
